Apple launched iOS 6 mid 2012, the os brought in a lot of new features such as “reply with message”, “do not disturb” and more disappointingly of course Apple Maps. Needless to say, a lot of people weren’t happy with the latter. Another unfortunate side no to Apple Maps that I must say isn’t really mentioned as much is the disappointing turn-by-turn feature, which is desirable yes, but only available to a limited number of countries and cities.
I’m going to show those of you who are unfortunate enough not to live in one of the cities where the Siri assisted turn-by-turn feature is not available. I myself am in Windhoek, Namibia and the service is NOT available here.
The Navteq powered Nav4D app available on the app store for as little as $4.99! This app not only provides you with clear turn-by-turn directions to your desired destinations but it does it with a lot of “skill”, another interesting feature is that the app is available for different regions and cities so a dowanload would roughly 200 to 500MB but its worth it because you will be downloading the entire map for your city/region! this means you get turn-by-turn navigation from your iphone/android or even GPS equiped laptop without the need of an internet connection!
How cool is that?
Who needs Apple Maps and Siri when you have an app from the world’s best map and navigation company (Navteq).
